Who is Your Guest of Honor?

Psalm 100:4

“Enter into His gates (entrance) with thanksgiving, And into His courts (enclosure surrounded by a fence) with praise. Be thankful to Him, and bless His name.”

It would be fair to say that when someone hears the word “November” the first thing that comes to mind is “Thanksgiving”! What a blessing to have an entire month centered around the sole focus of being thankful. Who is your Guest of Honor this Thanksgiving?

Thanksgiving Day traditions change for families through the years and it’s sometimes difficult to maintain an attitude of gratefulness as we focus on loved ones that are not sitting around the table due to bodily death, or because of death in a relationship caused by strife and offense, or because they simply choose other plans. In reality, disappointments are a fact of life and God told us “Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you who belong to Christ Jesus” (1 Timothy 5:18). We have to make a conscience effort to allow the true meaning of Thanksgiving to saturate our thoughts, focus and plans! Who is your Guest of Honor this Thanksgiving?

‘Thanksgiving/ meanings in the Bible:

(Old Testament) “towda: to offer praise to God.

(New Testament) “encharistia”: giving of thanks for God’s blessing

Thanksgiving is not just about what we have or do not have on this earth but rather Who created the world in which we live and what He so sacrificially gave for us to live joyous, triumphant lives!! Who is your Guest of Honor this Thanksgiving? Let’s praise Him and thank Him!!!

Because God is our Guest of Honor on the Thanksgiving Day, as for me and my house we will serve the Lord (Josh. 24:15) so the Everett family chooses to “Enter into our front door with thanksgiving, And into our house with praise. We are thankful to God, and bless His name.”

Happy Thanksgiving!!

We’re family, let’s talk.......
